Symph Asks Vol. III

Symph Asks is back! For this volume, we decided to put the spotlight on our senior high school interns, the first ones we have for the past eight years.

As their internship is coming to an end, we would like to acknowledge all of our interns’ great contribution to Symph for the time they have worked with us. In this Symph Asks edition, we asked our senior high school interns taking up the strand Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Cebu City National Science High School the question:

What is something new you have learned in your internship here at Symph?

Hannah Mendoza

Daghan gyud ko’g na learn. Gamay ra kaayo akoang knowledge (I have learned a lot. I have little knowledge) about computer languages then Symph helped me to learn some computer languages like Python and Javascript. They also introduced me to Google App Engine, and a little bit of HTML. But to top it all, it’s not just all about technology but also about marketing, how the company is running- (I learned it) through the Friday meetings.”

Jun Albert Pardillo

“I learned that in an environment such as Symph, although the work we’re doing is very critical and needing lots of time and effort, the environment itself doesn’t have to be very stressful. We get to have a break and sometimes, we really need that break in this kind of stressful work. I think that’s important for people like you guys, for developers.”

Oscar Vian Valles

"(I learned about) Interacting with clients. It’s my first time tasked with something like this, first time speaking to people where you have to take into consideration their ideas, then they are paying you… something like that. So, interacting with them, knowing what they want, and how to please them."

Justin Andre Po "(I learned that) Even for us developers, we need to work as a team. No man is an island. You need people to support you, give you more ideas, more inputs, so that your output could be the best it could be and keep on molding it to turn it into your vision— what you want it to be."

April Catherine Zafra

"(I learned) First, coding. Second, you need to work as a team, you need to get help from everyone. You can’t work alone. As the quote says, 'If you want to go fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk with people'."

It’s always a give-and-take relationship with our interns here at Symph, and we’re forever proud of them for that.

All year-round, we are accepting interns who we can see are driven and most willing to learn. If you aspire to create things with us, know how to apply for our internship program in this article. Let's make things happen!
