It’s almost the start of another school year. While everyone is busy absorbing the last rays of summer, we know all too well that there are hopefuls out there who are preparing for their internships. Symph has always been proud of its interns — many people from our team were actually once interns. If you are hopeful to become one, we have curated this list of common questions we get from aspiring Symph interns:
When can I apply for an internship?
We are always hiring interns in Symph all year round.
What kind of interns are you looking for?
We are looking for interns that have done *extra* things before. Aside from the usual school requirements.
What’s the work schedule?
While it would usually depend on your school schedule, we always think it’s better if you have no classes and join Symph as a full-time intern. That way you get to focus, expose and immerse your self more in the real-work atmosphere.
What if I don’t have a sample of works?
We usually assign interns to join an existing team working on a real project, so we prefer interns that have done things before. We recommend you start working on a side-project on your own. This will accelerate your learning. Once you have built something, let us know.
Also, if you’re interested and if you’re applying for web development training, here’s a Firebase tutorial to get yourself a live web app in less than 2 hours.
After I’ve sent the internship application form, what happens next?
Our team will review your filled-out form and reply within 24 hours to either decline your application or to schedule an interview. Once the interview is done, the team will conduct another round of review and we’ll let you know of the final result within another 24 hours.
I’ve applied and I haven’t heard back from you. What do I do?
- Did you follow all the instructions above? Please double check.
- If you followed all the instructions above, wait for 24 hours (factor in weekdays and holidays). Feel free to stalk our social media accounts while waiting. If we haven’t responded back, please do send us a follow up email.
PS: We are looking for interns who have their own laptop or computer. We don’t usually provide devices to our team members, so you have to bring your own device. We’ve had interns bring their system units and monitors to the office before. That’s okay.
Important: If you don’t have a device, but you think you have really good sample of works, please still send an application, we might make an exception just for you.
See you in our inbox at email@example.com — we can’t wait for you to be part of the team!
